Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Silent Sentinel team in Ware. You will design enclosures and mechanisms for harsh environments, create CAD models, 2D drawings and BoMs, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure manufacturability and high quality.

Travel between Ware and Sandy may be required, with attention to IP67 compliance and robust testing. The role emphasizes self-motivation, teamwork, and clear technical documentation, supported by proficiency in

Qualifications

• Fluency in English (spoken and written).
• CAD experience in SolidWorks (3D modelling, 2D technical drawings, BoM production).
• Knowledge of material properties, manufacturing techniques, plating methods, coatings and fasteners.
• Ability to travel between Ware and Sandy on short notice.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to learn quickly and independently while also work within a team.
• A demonstrated pragmatic approach to problem solving.
• Ability to design for manufacture and assembly.
• Ability to implement designs that are ergonomic and aesthetically pleasing would be an asset.
• Familiarity with IP ratings and methods of achieving IP67.
• Being able to design and carry out relevant tests to help achieve high product quality.
• Ability to justify design decisions with calculations, analysis and written documentation.
• Experience in FEA and thermal simulation would be advantageous.
