Job summary

SmartSourcing Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Ware for a two‑month Inside IR35 contract. You will design enclosures and mechanisms for harsh environments, using CAD (SolidWorks) to create technical drawings and build guides readable by production, quality, and manufacturing teams.

You’ll inspect drawings before release, support prototyping and testing, and collaborate with internal machine shops and external suppliers to meet project goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• CAD experience in SolidWorks (3D modelling, 2D technical drawings).
• Knowledge of material properties, manufacturing techniques, plating methods, coatings and fasteners.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal machine shop and suppliers to achieve company objectives.
• Produce supporting documentation for an independent production team.
• Use 3D modelling software to design parts, assemblies, and mechanisms.
• Estimate amount of work required to complete proposed tasks.
• Create detailed production-quality fabrication drawings and assembly drawings.
• Design review to ensure high-quality materials are delivered to stakeholders.
• Develop designs, prototypes, and test fixtures; conduct mechanical testing and reporting.
• Support other engineering disciplines to meet objectives.
• Communicate effectively with other teams to suit needs of the product.
