Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Wastewater Design Engineer to design and support the delivery of mechanical systems for wastewater treatment facilities. This remote role requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3-7 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in design software and a strong understanding of mechanical installations and regulations.

Qualifications

  • 3-7 years experience in water/wastewater design.
  • Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical systems including pumps, valves, pipelines, and blowers.
  • Develop P&IDs, GA drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with project teams across various stages.

Skills

Mechanical engineering knowledge

Job Purpose

To design, specify, and support the delivery of mechanical systems and equipment for wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and related infrastructure. The role ensures designs are safe, sustainable, cost–effective, and compliant with applicable standards, contributing to the efficient treatment and management of wastewater.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical systems including pumps, valves, pipelines, blowers, and compressors
  • Develop P&IDs, GA drawings, and technical specifications
  • Conduct hydraulic calculations and energy efficiency assessments
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across project stages
  • Ensure compliance with WIMES, BS EN, and CDM regulations
What we re looking for:
  • Degree–qualified Mechanical Engineer (BEng/BSc)
  • 3 7+ years experience in water/wastewater design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, SolidWorks, or Revit MEP
  • Strong understanding of mechanical installation, materials, and corrosion prevention
  • Experience with CFD, FEA, or hydraulic modelling is a plus
