Job description
Mechanical Project/Design Engineer (Entry level)

Our client in East Sussex is looking for a MECHANICALLY BIASED Mechanical Engineer. Ideally an entry level person looking to develop themselves.

  • Working within the Design Department, providing engineering support and project control on a range of products including specialist equipment for Cleanrooms, Laboratories and Hospitals
  • Ideally suit an individual within commutable distance from e.g. Brighton, Eastbourne, Lewes, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill etc.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years industry experience in product design/development – desirable
  • Familiar with 2D (Draftsight) & 3D CAD software (Allibre)
  • Taking conceptual designs from senior project engineers and providing detailed drawings through to manufacturing – desirable
  • Knowledge/experience of product design/manufacturing
Engineering Experience
  • Understanding of thermoplastics structure design in e.g. polypropylene, PVC etc, sheet metal design, welded metal (box section) structure design (mostly) in stainless steel
  • An understanding of component design for Centre Lathe and Milling Machine production.
Main Duties
  • Supporting the Design and Production Teams a fast paced and ever evolving environment
  • Production of working designs and parts lists for the Production team
  • Production of O&M manuals for the Customer
  • Production of RAMS for installation team
  • Production of design P&IDs for the Production team
  • Working upon more than one project at same time, sometimes multiple projects
General
  • Must be proficient in 2D CAD and 3D CAD.
  • Must be willing to attend customers' sites for various duties such as site surveys, supporting installations, commissioning, and sales support to sales department.
  • Must be computer literate and able to use regular office programmes
  • Must be able to drive, with clean licence – desirable
Reporting/Liaising Structure
  • Reporting to: Technical: Chief Engineer & Production: Production Director, along with the Company's Managing Director
  • Liaising directly with: Engineering colleagues within the Production Design Department, Shop Floor Departmental Supervisors, Sales Department and the Customer

The company salary is deemed to cover most regular travel away from home (i.e., occasional overnight stays away) as described above. All legitimate expenses for travel costs and substances are provided by the Company. The company operates a Workplace Pension Scheme.
