What's the role?

The role of the Mechanical Engineer is to provide technical economical solutions for the new product design expectations of the project among the stakeholders involved. This consists in ensuring that the end result of the switchgear design is in accordance to product requirement specification. In the role you will report directly to the Design Program Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop new designs, cost reductions, and design modifications that will assure product and technology leadership in accordance with the company's strategic plan.
  • Interface with cross functional teams Inc Project Managers and R&D Engineers during product development and enhancement process to ensure that customer VOC are fed into in the design.
  • Prepare project level and product documentation based on the requirements.
  • Document product robustness using simulations, analysis and testing methods.
  • Arrange design reviews, analyse concepts and cost effectiveness of the hardware designs.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing. Assist Purchasing on supplier selection and component evaluation.
What we're looking for
  • Qualified to a degree level in mechanical engineering, preferably first degree or possessing appropriate industry experience
  • Demonstratable experience in managing collaborative R&D projects; strong project management, organisation and leadership skills
  • Strong background in Mechanical Design.
  • Experience in Medium Voltage ANSI / IEC Switchboard / Switchgear / MCC design.
  • ANSI /IEC/IEEE standards knowledge.
