Industrialconnected in Irlam is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to develop bespoke machinery, automation equipment, and robotic systems. You will create 3D CAD models and drawings and collaborate with electrical and manufacturing teams to meet milestones.

The role emphasizes design-for-manufacture, CE/UKCA considerations, and practical activity including fitting or assembly as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in automation, machinery, or manufacturing.
• Proven mechanical design experience with SolidWorks.
• Understanding of tolerances, engineering principles, and design for manufacture.
• Full, valid UK driving licence.
• Experience with robotics or automation projects desirable.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Support concept development for bespoke machinery and robotic systems.
• Ensure designs consider CE / UKCA machinery requirements.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams.
• Apply design-for-manufacture principles across projects.
• Support the wider engineering team with occasional fitting or assembly work.
• Help ensure projects are delivered against agreed engineering milestones.
