Job summary

Matthew James Group Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (AutoCAD Inventor) to produce practical, accurate mechanical designs and support product development.

The role requires strong Autodesk Inventor/AutoCAD Mechanical skills, a Mechanical Engineering degree, and extensive experience in industrial design and manufacturing drawings, with attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience producing manufacturing, fabrication and assembly drawings.
• Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD Mechanical.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce 3D models, assemblies and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Develop new designs and modify existing products.
• Produce fabrication and assembly drawings with dimensions, tolerances and materials.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to resolve design/manufacturing issues.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and drawing revisions.
• Ensure designs meet customer specifications and engineering requirements.

Mechanical Design Engineer (AutoCAD Inventor)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer (AutoCAD Inventor) on behalf of our client, a well-established engineering business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing practical, accurate mechanical designs, supporting product development and ensuring designs are suitable for manufacture.

Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Produce 3D models, assemblies and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Develop new designs and modify existing products.
• Produce fabrication and assembly drawings, including dimensions, tolerances and material specifications.
• Work closely with engineering and production teams to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and drawing revisions.
• Ensure designs meet customer specifications and engineering requirements.

Key Requirements of the Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD Mechanical.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Extensive industrial engineering/design experience.
• Experience producing manufacturing, fabrication and assembly drawings.
• Good understanding of engineering principles and design for manufacture.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong attention to detail, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities and support multiple projects.
