Job summary

ACS Recruitment Solutions Ltd is recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer for a Northampton-based role. You will take ownership of projects from concept through to installation, delivering detailed drawings and robust mechanical solutions.

You will work closely with clients and fabrication teams, perform calculations and site surveys, and ensure designs meet industry standards. A driving licence is required for occasional site visits.

Qualifications

• A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in manufacturing or construction.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
• Solid understanding of engineering principles, materials and fabrication processes.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Full UK driving licence for site visits.

Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Northampton
Salary: DOE (Depending on Experience)

Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm

Our client is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Producing detailed manufacturing and general arrangement drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
• Interpreting client briefs and transforming ideas into practical, cost–effective engineering solutions.
• Working closely with clients, suppliers, fabrication teams and installation crews to ensure projects run smoothly from start to finish.
• Carrying out engineering calculations, site surveys and technical assessments to support your designs.
• Managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional quality and meeting deadlines.
• Ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards, best practices and safety requirements.
• Continuously looking for smarter, more efficient ways to improve designs and processes.
