Job summary

A leading engineering recruitment firm in the UK seeks an experienced Senior Design Engineer to work on bespoke military and defense projects. Ideal candidates will have 10 years of mechanical design experience and a degree in engineering. You will be responsible for designing heavy-duty vehicle components and managing projects from start to finish, working in the office 5 days a week. The role offers a salary of £55,000 plus benefits including 25 days holiday and a bonus scheme.

Senior Design Engineer

Overview

We're looking for experienced design engineers with a passion for military/ defense projects in an expanding and developing industry. The work is bespoke – so no two days are the same!

Roles / Responsibilities

• Mechanical design of heavy duty vehicle components – chassis, suspensions, axles, braking & pressing systems, machine components, couplings and moving parts.
• Creating hydraulic and pneumatic drawings.
• Utilizing Solidworks software.
• Project management including presentations, liaison with production and follow-ups.
• Be in office 5 days per week.

What We're Looking For

• A degree or relevant qualification in mechanical engineering or a related subject.
• 10 years experience in mechanical design.
• Experience of heavy engineering – sheet metal, fabrication, and welding design.
• A background in lifting systems, excavating equipment, special purpose machinery, access platforms is all favourable.
