About the role

Veolia is looking for a Senior Process Design Engineer to provide technical leadership and process design governance for water, wastewater, and bioresources projects across the UK. Working from conceptual studies through detailed design, you will develop innovative, commercially viable solutions and support business growth by delivering expert process design input for compelling technical proposals.

Responsibilities
  • Lead process design discipline in multidisciplinary teams and mentor process engineers, graduates, and designers.
  • Plan workload autonomously across project lifecycles from bidding to execution, managing multiple complex projects (£20k to £50m+).
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, draft compelling proposals and reports, and present at all levels.
  • Establish and own technical relationships with customers during bidding phases, acting as key interface between internal teams and external clients.
  • Build Veolia’s reputation as a ‘Water Technical Expert’ by delivering innovative, cost‑effective solutions, leading technical workshops and negotiations, and representing the company at industry events.
  • Embed sustainability principles into all process designs, optimising for energy, chemical usage, and resource recovery while quantifying environmental benefits.
Qualifications
  • Degree in chemical engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience in the process design of water and wastewater treatment plants, from conceptual design, FEED, to detailed engineering.
  • Proven experience developing technical solutions for commercial bids and understanding the commercial implications of design decisions.
  • Experience applying value engineering and design optimisation principles to create cost‑effective and innovative solutions.
  • Organised, consistently meets project deadlines.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel across the UK, sometimes at short notice.
