Job summary

Low Carbon Recruitment Ltd is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a team delivering decarbonisation and energy infrastructure projects across complex live environments, such as hospitals, universities and industrial sites. You will develop designs from concept to detailed design and collaborate with internal teams and external consultants.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree and 3–5+ years in building services or energy sectors, with experience in HVAC, heat pumps,

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years' experience within building services, energy, infrastructure or M&E environments.
• Experience with HVAC, steam, heating, chilled water and domestic water systems.
• Knowledge of major plant including heat pumps, boilers, CHP and chillers.
• Ability to produce engineering schematics and concept layouts using AutoCAD
• Understanding of commissioning, testing and engineering documentation
• Experience working within live operational environments would be advantageous

Responsibilities

Mechanical Design Engineer - Overview

We are currently working with one of the UK's leading technical and energy services providers who specialise in major decarbonisation and net zero solution projects within the commercial and public sector. They deliver decarbonisation projects up to £50million in value for sites such as Hospitals, Universities, Museums and many other complex buildings. They have a talented workforce of over 5,000 people and can offer development and progression within the business.

They're looking for a talented engineer to join our growing design team, delivering innovative decarbonisation and energy infrastructure projects across complex, live operational environments such as hospitals, universities, and industrial sites.

From large-scale energy centres and heat pumps to district heating, chilled water systems and plant rooms, you'll play a key role in developing high-quality engineering solutions that improve performance, resilience and sustainability. You'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design through to construction support and commissioning.

What you'll be doing:

Mechanical Design Engineer - Requirements

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering
• 3-5+ years' experience within building services, energy, infrastructure or M&E environments
• Experience with HVAC, steam, heating, chilled water and domestic water systems
• Knowledge of major plant including heat pumps, boilers, CHP and chillers
• Ability to produce engineering schematics and concept layouts using AutoCAD
• Understanding of commissioning, testing and engineering documentation

Mechanical Design Engineer - Salary & Remuneration

• Salary of up to £65,000 (Dependent on experience)
