Job summary

Platform Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer in South Cambridgeshire to join a well-established product development company focused on electro-mechanical scientific instrumentation. You will lead the transfer of R&D concepts to manufacturable products and participate in factory testing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Join a multidisciplinary team to optimise designs for seamless manufacturing and collaborate across electronics, software, and systems.

Qualifications

• Strong background in developing electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience in taking a product to manufacture is a must.
• Tooling, jigs and fixture design.
• Strong DFM and DFMA understanding.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Take R&D concepts to a manufacturable product.
• Ensure designs are optimised for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFMA).
• Lead factory acceptance testing.
• Build and test prototypes.
• Work closely with a cross-functional R&D team across electronics, software, and systems.
• Participate in design reviews, problem-solving sessions and continuous improvement initiatives.
