Mechanical Design Engineer Building Services (MEP)

Salary: GBP40,000 GBP65,000 per annum depending on experience
Location: Hybrid / Office–based in Telford, Shropshire
Job Type: Full–time, Permanent

A well–established design and build contractor specialising in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) projects is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding team. With projects ranging from GBP1 million to GBP10 million across the UK, this family–owned business is known for delivering high–quality solutions across commercial, healthcare, education, and infrastructure sectors.

Role Overview

This is an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong mechanical bias and a background in building services design. The successful candidate will contribute to the full design lifecycle, working collaboratively across disciplines to deliver technically sound and compliant solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design mechanical building services systems including HVAC and plumbing
• Produce technical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD, Revit, and IES
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure design integrity
• Manage quality assurance and contribute to programme planning
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and health & safety requirements

Candidate Requirements

• HNC in Building Services or equivalent
• Proven experience in mechanical building services design within the construction industry
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and IES software
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building processes
• Effective communication and time management skills
