Build Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a Plymouth-based building services consultancy. You will deliver mechanical design solutions from concept to completion across diverse projects.

Work with clients, architects and multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, sustainable designs, produce calculations and drawings using AutoCAD, Revit and IES, and ensure compliance with Building Regulations and British Standards.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Experience in mechanical building services design in a consultancy.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit and IES or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality mechanical building services designs from concept to completion.
• Collaborate with clients, architects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Prepare calculations, specifications, reports and drawings.
• Attend design meetings with clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Ensure designs comply with current regulations and industry standards.
• Support projects through RIBA stages from concept to completion.

Are you a talented Mechanical Design Engineer looking to join a forward-thinking building services consultancy? Our client, based in Plymouth, is seeking an experienced and motivated engineer to play a key role in delivering innovative mechanical design solutions across a diverse range of projects.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing high-quality mechanical building services designs from concept through to completion. You'll work closely with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, sustainable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design mechanical building services systems including HVAC, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, domestic water services, and public health systems.
• Produce calculations, specifications, reports, and technical drawings.
• Prepare designs using industry-standard software.
• Attend design meetings and liaise with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Ensure designs comply with current regulations and industry standards.
• Support projects through all RIBA stages from concept to completion.
• Contribute to innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.

About You

• Degree or HNC/HND qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy environment.
• Proficient in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and IES or similar.
• Good understanding of current Building Regulations and relevant British Standards.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Working towards or already Chartered (desirable but not essential).
