Job description

Overview

Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services, Croydon. Moveatech have partnered with a specialist Mechanical contractor with an established team. We are expanding the team in 2025 and inviting applicants to join the Mechanical Team within their Head Office, where they provide total engineering support to their directly employed Mechanical and Electrical Installation Engineers.

At this time we are seeking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, a good team player but equally able to work on their own initiative. The successful candidate should be capable of demonstrating previous successful experience of managing Mechanical projects within the range of £(phone number removed) to £(phone number removed), to be able to work under their own initiative from receipt of initial design brief to completion of the design for implementation by our contract management and site operating teams.

Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years\' experience and trade qualifications representative of a Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services), educated to HND / HNC or degree level in Building Services Engineering. Excellent knowledge of Building Services Design & software packages would be essential and a good understanding of Estimating, CAD & BIM, Revit packages would be an advantage. Some knowledge of a computer based Estimation package, MS project or Asta Powerproject and a good working knowledge of Excel and Word would be an advantage. References will be required for this position.

• A good working knowledge of current regulations including HTM's
• A good working knowledge of BMS & Control Systems.
• Ability to carry out site visits and surveys.

• Ability to present the design to the Professional and Contract Management teams.
• Ability to work in a team.
• Ability to work to programme deadlines and timescales.
• An appreciation of business demands.
• Good documentation and presentation skills.
• The willingness to undertake further design training as relevant to the position.

The Finer Details

• The successful candidate would be primarily based in our Head Office working Monday to Friday, 09.00-17.30 hours. However, there will be times where you will be required to put in extra hours and travel to site for surveys, meetings etc.
• Ease of commute to our Head Office in Croydon, Surrey is a consideration as this will be the primary base and the successful candidate would not be expected to have a commute of more than 45 minutes - 1 hour.

Employment Package

• A starting salary between £65,000.00 & £75,000.00, subject to level of experience, with discretional performance related bonuses
