Job summary

A growing mechanical contractor in London seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop designs from concept to completion for commercial projects. This role offers the chance to build and lead a design team as the company expands. Ideal candidates will have experience in building services design and proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit. Qualifications

  • Experience within a building services design role.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, pipework, public health).

  • Produce detailed mechanical designs for commercial projects.

  • Attend client and design coordination meetings.
  • Support design validation and value engineering processes.
  • Ensure all designs meet relevant standards and client requirements.

Mechanical Design Engineer

GBP50,000 – GBP65,000 per annum
We're representing a young and ambitious mechanical contractor that's part of a well–established group, specialising in commercial projects across London. This is a fantastic opportunity to join at an early growth stage and play a key role in shaping the company's design function.

As the Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing designs from concept through to completion, working closely with project and construction teams. Over time, you'll have the opportunity to build and lead your own design team as the business continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce detailed mechanical designs for commercial projects (CAT A & B fit outs, refurbishments, etc.)
  • Work with the pre–construction and project delivery teams to develop efficient, buildable solutions.
  • Attend client and design coordination meetings.
  • Support design validation and value engineering processes.
  • Ensure all designs meet relevant standards and client requirements.
Requirements
  • Experience within a building services design role.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, pipework, public health).
  • Desire to grow within a developing business and take on leadership responsibilities in the future.
