The Role

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Bury, United Kingdom

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the growing engineering team based in Bury. In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, design, and development of HVAC systems that are efficient, sustainable, and compliant with industry standards. You will work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated, safety-critical building solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design HVAC systems including ductwork, piping, and equipment layouts.
  • Select appropriate HVAC equipment and prepare technical specifications.
  • Develop detailed design drawings and documentation using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software.
  • Conduct site visits for inspections, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Stay informed on emerging HVAC technologies and trends.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., Hevacomp).
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and BIM workflows.
  • Sound understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.

Highly Desirable (but not essential):

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it.
  • Membership with CIBSE or equivalent professional body.
