Job summary

A leading recruitment agency in the UK is seeking an experienced Mechanical Craftsperson for TATA Steel in Shotton. The role involves mechanical maintenance and refurbishment of cranes. Candidates must have a mechanical engineering apprenticeship and at least two years in a related heavy industry. The position offers a salary of £33,477 - £36,651 plus benefits including a 10% pension contribution and 35 days of paid holiday.

Mechanical Craftsperson - Cranes

Location

TATA Steel, Shotton Works, Shotton Records Centre, Deeside CH5 2NH

Salary

£33,477 - £36,651 + Bonus

Start

ASAP but pending the successful result of a medical assessment (This does include a drug and alcohol test)

Responsibilities
  • Mechanical maintenance, refurbishment and repair of mechanical equipment within the cranes department
  • Undertaking preventative and corrective maintenance on overhead travelling cranes
  • Repairing mechanical items to a high standard
  • Following existing drawings
  • Assisting with the development of design for manufacture of spares for cranes
  • Repairing and refurbishing existing equipment
  • Undertaking work for workshops, auxiliary plant and downshifts as needed
  • Carrying out risk assessments and LOLERs
  • Conducting zone safety audits as required
  • Following a high level of Health and Safety at all times and promoting this to others
Essential requirements
  • Driving licence and use of a car
  • Plant experience in a steel and/or construction related heavy industry (2+ years)
  • Time served apprenticeship (Mechanical Engineering)
  • Prior experience with overhead cranes and abidance of LOLER
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional knowledge of UK Health and Safety Legislation
