Job summary

Vulcain Engineering is expanding its Bristol teams and seeks a Mechanical Contract Lead for nuclear access systems. You will oversee mechanical packages, ensure safe integration of door systems and lifting interfaces, and manage cross-disciplinary design work on a major nuclear programme.

The role requires experience with regulated environments, strong stakeholder skills, and willingness to relocate to Bristol. Visa sponsorship is not guaranteed.

Qualifications

• Background in mechanical engineering, ideally in regulated environments.
• Experience with industrial doors or access systems.
• Knowledge of lifting and handling integration.
• Understanding of design review and supplier engagement processes.
• Familiarity with safety-critical or highly regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight of mechanical packages across doors and access systems.
• Review supplier designs for containment, access and safety-related doors.
• Ensure integration with lifting, handling and interfacing systems.
• Manage technical queries across design, installation and operation phases.
• Ensure compliance with nuclear safety and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to design reviews, workshops and technical meetings.
• Monitor risks and support resolution of interface issues.
• Maintain alignment with configuration and project design changes.
