Job summary

Assystem UK Ltd is recruiting an experienced Mechanical CAD Engineer to deliver component models, P&IDs, integrated layouts and assemblies for the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project. Reporting to the CAD Manager, you will translate concepts into precise CAD definitions and collaborate across engineering teams to meet high standards.

Qualifications

• Experienced Mechanical CAD Engineer capable of delivering high‑quality drawings and models.
• Collaborative team player with ability to transform concepts into engineering solutions.
• Proficient in 2D CAD systems like AutoCAD for precise drawings.
• Skilled in 3D CAD/BIM systems (Revit, Inventor, Solid Edge, NX, PDMS or similar).
• Professionally qualified in an engineering‑related field with clearance suitability.
• SC Clearance or ability to obtain clearance for high‑security projects.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of component models and definitions, system P&IDs, integrated layouts and assemblies for the SMR.
• Develop understanding of SMR layout and components, collaborating with design engineers.
• Generate CAD models and definitions to a high standard.
• Provide CAD expertise and mentorship within the CAD/BIM team.

Layout Design: Develop layout solutions from concept to construction, based on design engineer Modeling: Create component CAD models and definitions adhering to standards.Diagram Production: Generate 2D process, instrumentation, and ventilation system diagrams.Data Management: Assist in product configuration and data management processes.Quality Assurance: Maintain quality by conducting peer reviews of models and component definitions.CAD Environment Management: Set up and maintain CAD tools, templates, standards, QA processes, and training Support: Provide CAD expertise, training, and mentorship to the CAD/BIM team and junior staff members.
