MBDA UK invites undergraduates to join the Mechanical and Climatic Engineering team for a 10-week summer placement starting June 2027. You will contribute to real-world projects across EE&F domains, learning instrumentation, data analysis, and trial execution in a supportive environment.
Successful placements may lead to graduate opportunities. The package includes pension contributions, paid overtime, and 5 days annual leave. On-site facilities are available at MBDA sites in Stevenage.
Mechanical and Climatic Engineers are at the forefront of ensuring MBDA products survive and operate as required throughout customer in-service use. This role is challenging and dynamic and works across the full range of MBDA products with a friendly and supportive team.
Salary: £24,460 (pro-rata)
Dynamic working: 3-4 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

During your placement as a Mechanical and Climatic Engineer in Environmental Engineering & Facilities (EE&F) you'll experience a wide variety of challenging technical projects including hands on work where you get a chance to influence real world engineering decisions, strategies, and designs. EE&F is made up of three domains; Test, Trials and Analysis, and Projects. Your placement could be focused in one or all three of these areas work, on a range of current products at different stages of the development cycle Each EE&F domain will enable you to gain experience and technical/soft skills whilst collaborating with partners from across, and external to, MBDA. You’ll experience a challenging and technically exciting working environment, surrounded by a great support network within the department, experienced in hosting placement students. Areas of work could include specifying instrumentation / acquisition systems for data gathering trials, and conducting trials at external sites in close proximity to customer platforms, as well as testing, modelling and analysing data to prove our product complies with the requirements we set.
During your placement you will:
Current undergraduate working towards a degree in an Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production and Manufacturing Engineering, Maths or Physics discipline.
