Job summary

Arnold Clark is seeking a motivated Mechanic to safely prepare our customers' cars for the road ahead, with attention to every detail and pride in a meticulous job. You’ll work as part of a capable, skilled team on a wide range of manufacturers and models, staying up to date with the latest vehicle technology.

The role offers competitive pay (£40,000–£50,000 DOE) plus benefits, overtime paid at time and a half, 33 days annual leave, and opportunities to earn performance bonuses.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance Level 3 and solid automotive experience.
• Ability to work independently or in a busy team.
• Good communication and attention to detail.
• Ability to meet deadlines and follow instructions.
• Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, repairs and maintenance to high standards.
• Inspect engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues using diagnostic equipment.
• Repair or replace broken or defective parts.
• Carry out DVSA vehicle testing (if authorised).
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs.
• Maintain equipment and ensure tools are in good condition.
• Follow checklists to complete procedures and documentation.

Above all, you’ll want to be part of a capable, motivated team who feel the same way. You’ll get the chance to work on an incredible range of manufacturers and models, developing your skills and staying up to date with the very latest in vehicle technology.

Essential Skills

• A certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance Level 3 and solid work experience in the automotive industry
• The ability to work in a competent and efficient manner on your own or part of a busy team
• Strong communication skills
• Good attention to detail
• The ability to carry out work to high standards and to deadlines
• A proactive and enthusiastic approach
• The ability to accurately follow written and spoken instructions
• A full driving licence

Day-to-day duties

• Carrying out servicing, repairs and maintenance to high standards
