Job summary

Arnold Clark in Aberdeen is seeking a skilled Automotive Mechanic to service, repair and maintain a wide range of vehicles. You’ll diagnose issues with computer-based equipment, perform DVSA tests if authorised, and ensure work is completed to high standards.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance Level 3 and solid automotive experience.
• Ability to work solo or within a busy team.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.
• Follow instructions accurately and meet deadlines.
• Active driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, repairs and maintenance to high standards.
• Inspect engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues.
• Repair or replace defective parts.
• Carry out DVSA vehicle testing (if authorised).
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs, maintain tools and complete documentation.

Essential Skills

• A certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance Level 3 and solid work experience in the automotive industry
• The ability to work in a competent and efficient manner on your own or part of a busy team
• Strong communication skills

• The ability to carry out work to high standards and to deadlines
• A proactive and enthusiastic approach
• The ability to accurately follow written and spoken instructions
• A full driving licence

Day-to-day duties

• Carrying out servicing, repairs and maintenance to high standards
• Inspecting vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately, using computer-based diagnostic equipment
• Repairing or replacing broken or defective parts
• Carrying out DVSA vehicle testing (if authorised)
• Road testing vehicles to check repairs
• Maintaining equipment and making sure tools are in good condition.
• Following checklists to ensure all procedures are completed
• Completing all documentation to the required standard
