Job summary

University of Hertfordshire invites applications for the role of Module Lead to academically lead, plan and implement the Introductory MBBS modules within the new Medical School. The post supports curriculum design, assessment and innovation in teaching with a multi-tasking, collaborative team.

The role requires a postgraduate qualification or MBBS with clinical experience, and DBS checks may be required. FTE: 0.4; salary £58,225–£69,488 pro rata with increments.

• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant basic science discipline or MBBS with clinical experience.
• Experience in teaching and curriculum development at undergraduate/postgraduate level.

Job description

The role of the Module Lead is to academically lead, plan, operationalise and contribute to the quality assurance of content relating to the Introductory modules in the clinical sciences years of the MBBS Programme. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching and curriculum development at the undergraduate/postgraduate level (preferably clinical/medical education), project supervision of undergraduate/postgraduate students and experience of assessment, including discursive, academic writing. You will be able to demonstrate a commitment to innovation in teaching and learning, with a willingness to embrace new methods and technologies. You will have the ability to assist in curriculum design, implementation, assessment and promotion of the course. You will have strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications required

A postgraduate qualification in a relevant basic science discipline or an MBBS with relevant clinical experience.

The University of Hertfordshire is opening a new Medical School with the first cohort of students starting in September 2026. There is currently an enthusiastic academic and clinical core team, developing, adopting and adapting the MBBS curriculum in line with City St George's Medical School, University of London, who are our sponsor. We are now seeking to expand our team to implement the curriculum in preparation for the arrival of our students. Newly appointed staff will receive full support from our existing team.

An appointment to this role may require an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate.

FTE: 0.4 FTE (working 14.8 hours per week)

Duration of Contract: 3 Year Fixed term contract - renewal subject to review

Salary: UH9 £58,225pa to £69,488pa pro rata by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience or NHS - Clinical/Academic grade

Annual Leave: 35 days pro rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
