Job summary

DBTH is recruiting a dynamic Midwifery Matron to lead inpatient maternity services across Doncaster and Bassetlaw. The role encompasses clinical leadership, governance, workforce development and collaboration with senior management to drive patient safety and experience.

You will rotate within the maternity matron team and oversee education, complaints handling and professional standards, reporting to the Deputy Director of Midwifery. A proven record of quality improvement is essential.

  • Experience of service development, leading and managing change.

Job summary

Are you dynamic, highly motivated midwife committed to improving patient outcomes and experience? DBTH are looking for an enthusiastic and committed midwife to join our Midwifery Matron team.

This post is rotational within the maternity matron team and you will initially be responsible for the inpatient areas at both Doncaster and Bassetlaw sites, workforce and education.

You will be required to demonstrate effective leadership for your clinical areas, be able to work collaboratively, manage complaints, promote and support best practice and set professional standards.

As a key member of the Senior Divisional leadership team you will work collaboratively with the Divisional Director, Clinical Director, Business and Service managers and the multidisciplinary teams.

The successful candidate will be pro‑active, have a proven track record of quality improvement and will ensure that service needs and patient experience are met to the high standards we aspire to.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to demonstrate effective leadership for your clinical areas, be able to work collaboratively, manage complaints, promote and support best practice and set professional standards.

The post holder will provide clinical and professional leadership and line management to the clinical teams, reporting to the Deputy Director of Midwifery and Gynaecology Service accountable to the Director of Midwifery and Gynaecology Service. The post holder will ensure the key functions of the modern matron are undertaken for the directorate.

Demonstrate effective leadership, setting, monitoring and maintaining professional standards, working collaborative, manage complaints and lead the midwifery contribution for clinical governance at a specialty/department level in line with the Nursing & Midwifery Strategy.

Be an integral member of the senior leadership team, providing midwifery advice, manage midwifery teams, have delegated budgetary responsibility and contribute to innovative solutions to workforce & capacity management.

Take responsibility for human and financial resources, contributing to key performance outcomes within the directorate.

Act in accordance to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
