Job summary

Elementa Wales is seeking a dedicated Maths Teacher to work with secondary schools across Cardiff. Bring passion for maths, inspire pupils and deliver engaging lessons in line with Curriculum for Wales.

Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent, a maths degree or strong subject knowledge, and experience teaching maths in a secondary setting are essential. Welsh language skills are beneficial but not essential.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Degree in Mathematics or strong maths knowledge.
• Experience teaching Maths in a secondary school.
• Understanding of Curriculum for Wales.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons in line with the Curriculum for Wales.
• Teach mathematical concepts including algebra, geometry, statistics and numeracy.
• Inspire pupils to develop confidence, logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Create a positive, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively.
• Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities.
• Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and school leaders to support pupil achievement.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• A relevant degree or strong subject knowledge in Mathematics.
• Experience teaching Maths within a secondary school setting.
• A sound understanding of the Curriculum for Wales.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• The ability to motivate, engage and inspire young people.
• A positive, adaptable and professional approach to teaching.

Desirable

• Experience supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
• Experience teaching GCSE Mathematics and Numeracy.
• Confidence supporting pupils across a range of abilities and attainment levels.
• Welsh language skills are beneficial but not essential.
