Job summary

An educational recruitment agency in York is seeking a full-time Maths Instructor to deliver KS4 Maths within a specialized setting. Maths Instructor

Contract: Full Time
Salary: £150 – £261 per day

GSL Education is seeking a full-time Maths Instructor to deliver KS4 Maths within a specialist secondary setting in York from January 2026. This role is ideal for candidates with strong Maths knowledge who are passionate about helping students who may not thrive in mainstream settings.

About the Setting

You will be working within a supportive, specialised provision that supports young people with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, Autism, communication differences, and complex learning profiles. Classes are smaller than average, and the curriculum is carefully adapted to help students re-engage with learning, build confidence, and work towards personalised outcomes. The environment is calm, relationship-focused, and highly structured, with a strong emphasis on wellbeing alongside academic progress.

The Role as a Maths Instructor
  • Deliver KS4 Maths to small groups of students
  • Adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs and levels
  • Break down mathematical concepts into accessible, realistic steps
  • Use practical, real-life approaches to support engagement
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to motivate and support learners
  • Work collaboratively with SEN staff, behaviour teams, and pastoral leads
  • Participate in planning, assessment, and progress tracking
