Job summary

Explore Learning in Addiscombe is seeking a Maths and English Tutor to join our on-site centre. You will lead small groups (up to 16), support children aged 4–16 across the national curriculum and 11+ GCSE content, and help them build confidence and a love of learning.

This permanent, part-time role requires a GCSE grade 6 or above in Maths and English, and eligibility to work in the UK. Base hourly rates start at under-18 rate, rising with age, plus extra for centres inside the M25.

As a tutor, you'll play a key role in every child's learning journey by

• Are confident leading sessions with small groups (16), inspiring children to engage in their learning, using positive behaviour management strategies, and consistently prioritising their safety and wellbeing.
• Feel comfortable supporting children aged 4-16 across the national curriculum, including 11+ entrance exams and GCSE content.

Location

This is an on-site role and you will be based at our Addiscombecentre.

Contract

This is a permanent, part time role. You will be contracted to work a minimum of 6 hours a week over at least 2 different weekdays. Our available shift start times are

• 330-8pm Tuesday
• 330-8pm Wednesday
• 330-7pm Thursday
• 330-6pm Friday
• Morning/afternoon Saturday

This is not a summer-only role; we are seeking dedicated tutors to support our members throughout the next academic year and beyond.

Pay Rates & Progression

Earn more as you progress!You will start on the base rate for your age group, with an annual opportunity to increase your pay based on the number of hours you have tutored for us.

Base Hourly Rate

• Under 18 £840
• 18-20 £10.90
• 21+ £12.75

• an additional 50p per hour will be added if working at a centre inside the M25. You will be paid for all training and inductions.

Requirements

You must be age 16 or over and have the right to work in the UK. You must have achieved a grade 6 or above in Maths & English Language at GCSE level orequivalent (we accept predicted GCSE grades if you will be receiving your results within the next 3 months).
