Maternity Support Worker - Inpatient Midwifery

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Maternity Support Worker posts to join the inpatient MSW team. You will be experienced, enthusiastic and caring and must be able to work autonomously, demonstrating excellent clinical skills to provide women centred care. You will be expected to work across both the maternity ward and delivery suite as part of your role and working with midwives.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will be working within the midwifery team supporting midwives to ensure all women receive optimum care, implementation of care and a range of designated patient duties to include the recording of patient details/records.

About the Role

The successful applicant/s will work in rotation within the maternity unit to include Ward 53 (antenatal and postnatal). It will be in a shift pattern to include weekdays, weekends and night duties.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a standard/enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.

As this vacancy is within the division of Womens and Childrens, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust. Further details of how to join the update service will be provided upon appointment.

Person Specification

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

• NVQ level 3 Care
• 5 GCSE's including maths and English in Grades A-C

Knowledge and Skills

• Basic IT skills
• Previous experience of working within the Health care setting or similar environment
• Ability to produce clear written documentation
• Trained in taking observations
• Trained in venupuncture
