Maternity & Neonates Service Manager

The closing date is 30 December 2025

Work in partnership with the General Manager, Obstetricians and Midwifery team, to provide both operational and governance business support and support in the development and implementation of the Service's strategic objectives.

Main duties of the job
  • Responsible for the overall safe and smooth delivery of identified services as set out in the Trust business plan, national service frameworks and contractual commitments with CCGs and NHS England
  • Prepare and action improvement plans as and when required to improve the quality of care and patient experience
  • Responsible for delivering relevant performance targets and metrics, including clinical outcome objectives and service line reporting
  • Support the Specialty Manager to facilitate service provision across sites, ensuring the Trust offers a safe, effective, well‑led, responsive and caring service. In doing so, meet KPIs and quality indicators set by commissioners locally and nationally
  • Ensure that public and patient user views are considered in the planning and monitoring of services
  • Engage and influence senior clinical team in the achievement of service objectives

Education & Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

Knowledge & Experience
  • NHS operational management experience at Band 6 or above and up‑to‑date knowledge of NHS policy
  • Staff management and leadership experience
  • Experience of project management within the NHS
  • Involvement in budget Management
  • Experience in assistance with delivering NHS targets
  • Experience of building rapport and credibility with senior clinical and managerial teams in the delivery of performance targets, service delivery and change programmes
  • Thorough understanding of risk, governance and maternity quality agenda
  • Experience of working within Maternity Services
  • Experience of undertaking governance related activities such as managing complaints or incidents
Skills, Abilities & Attributes
  • Demonstrable experience of writing quality reports
  • Ability to cope with large workloads, work under pressure, prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Relevant training or experience of coaching staff
  • IT literate
