A leading healthcare institution in Basildon seeks a Midwife for Governance to support operational risk management across maternity services. The role involves managing incidents, ensuring compliance with CQC standards, and fostering an open, patient-centered culture. The candidate will lead investigations, provide expert midwifery input, and ensure continuous improvement in clinical safety and quality. You will support the Lead Midwife for Governance in delivering operational risk management across the division, ensuring a patient-centered approach that promotes an open and transparent culture and improves clinical safety and quality. This role involves leading the management of incidents, complaints risk assessment, PMRT, and compliance activities within the maternity service, working collaboratively with senior managers and wider governance teams to maintain an effective Clinical Governance Assurance Framework.
You will provide expert midwifery input to ensure timely review and investigation of incidents, oversight of risk management processes, and support for regulatory compliance, including CQC requirements and the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF). They will represent the service at key governance meetings, deputise for the Lead Midwife for Governance as required, and provide line management to the Governance Coordinator.
This role also includes contributing to policy and service development, supporting staff in clinical governance and duty of candour responsibilities, and ensuring that best-practice midwifery standards are maintained across the service. The post holder will deliver annual and strategic objectives through collaborative leadership, role-modelling professional values and behaviours, and supporting the division to meet national, local, and regulatory standards.
