Department: Science Apprenticeship - Materials L3
Location: Welwyn Garden City
Compensation: £27,500 per year
As an Apprentice Materials Technician, you will play a key role in the product development process by preparing, testing, and recording data relevant to product prototypes.
Previous experience is not essential; we welcome applicants from all backgrounds with a genuine interest in the field and motivation to build a career.
We value attitude, curiosity, and commitment over formal qualifications. Enrolment for the apprenticeship is available to individuals over 16, not in full‑time education, who have lived in the UK for three years and have the right to work in the UK.
Over 18 months, you will dedicate a minimum of 6 hours per week to off‑the‑job training, including theory lessons, virtual learning, and practical shadowing. The programme leads to a Level 3 Materials Technician apprenticeship and provides the knowledge, skills, and work habits needed for success.
Upon completion, you may secure a full‑time position within Sika, pursue higher‑level qualifications such as a BSc in Applied Materials Science, or transition into roles across construction materials, civil engineering, geotechnical investigation, and environmental consultancy.
If you meet the above criteria and are interested, contact us and we will discuss the next steps.
