Reporting to: Director, Nuclear & Fuel Cycle Engineering
Type One Energy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Materials Scientist with experience in the characterization, processing, and development of new materials. Ideally the candidate will have experience in the development and testing of materials used within the nuclear or fusion sectors.
As a Materials Scientist, you will play a vital role in the development of material systems which will be deployed on the Infinity Two Fusion Pilot Plant. Notably this includes leading a program aimed at the timely delivery of reduced activation steels for in‑vessel components such as the blanket and first wall. This includes thrusts aimed at manufacturing, scale‑up, and in‑service lifetime evaluation. In addition, this position will support structural materials selection and evaluation for additional systems, including the vacuum vessel and ex‑vessel components.
Type One Energy applies proven advanced manufacturing methods, modern computational physics and high‑field superconducting magnets to develop its optimized stellarator fusion energy system. Its FusionDirect development program pursues the lowest‑risk, shortest‑schedule path to a fusion power plant over the coming decade, using a partner‑intensive and capital‑efficient strategy.
