Job summary

Supply Technologies in Burton upon Trent is seeking a Buyer Planner to join a small planning team. You will manage suppliers to ensure materials meet customer stock levels and support operational continuity.

Reporting to the Senior Buyer/Planner, you will raise purchase orders, monitor deliveries, resolve shortages, and work with sourcing to strengthen the supply base. Strong Excel and ERP experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Three years of professional experience in materials planning, procurement, or demand planning.
• Experience with ERP systems and proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in a distribution environment is a plus.
• Solid knowledge of material planning and inventory management.
• Strong prioritisation, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Raise purchase orders in line with planning tools and approved methodologies.
• Manage suppliers to progress orders and resolve supply or delivery issues.
• Day-to-day order management and delivery coordination.
• Address inventory shortfalls to avoid customer disruption.
• Collaborate with Senior Buyer/Planner on recovery plans for shortages.
• Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders for efficient communication.
• Challenge price increases and contribute ideas for cost savings and rationalisation.
• Escalate inaccuracies in ERP/IT systems to drive ongoing improvements.
• Manage incoming inventory, packaging, and warehouse considerations.
• Resolve supplier invoice discrepancies in a timely manner.
