We are seeking a Materials Management Assistant to join our professional and customer focused Logistics and Supply Chain team. From managing inventory to optimising supply routes, this role is at the forefront of healthcare logistics, making a tangible impact on patient care.
The post holder will assist in the daily Materials Management service for dedicated areas within the Trust.
Reporting to the Supply Chain Supervisor, the post holder will be responsible for providing a range of professional supply chain and logistics services for the Theatre/Ward teams at East Lancashire Hospital Trust.
This position covers a variety of tasks requiring initiative and independent judgment. The objective is to ensure a timely and effective top‑up of stock and non‑stock items, replenishing stock to agreed levels, checking receipt deliveries, and putting away goods. Most of the working day will be spent at theatre/departmental level.
The role will also help provide a professional procurement and logistics service in association with other staff, and assist Trust Management in meeting the corporate objectives of the Trust.
The job is for 37.5 hours a week, comprised of 7.5‑hour daily shifts between 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Friday. The post will also require coverage of other shifts: 06:00 – 22:00 weekdays, 08:00 – 16:00 weekends, and nights 20:15 – 06:15 on a four‑weekly rota basis, as needed.
Materials Management Assistants will play a leading role as the Trust has undergone a major transformation, with the introduction of a new and exciting Scan for Safety (S4S) enabled dynamic inventory management system. This new system provides improved service characteristics that will benefit the Trust and promote enhanced patient safety features.
