Job summary

Enthought is hiring a Materials Data Scientist / Scientific Software Developer to join our client-facing delivery team in Cambridge. You will combine materials science, chemistry, and machine learning to build end-to-end informatics solutions and guide AI-assisted development.

You’ll work with Python ecosystems, develop production-ready software, and collaborate with clients on problem framing, data handling, and deployment. Flexible hybrid work from Cambridge is offered.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end materials informatics solutions spanning data, models, and user-facing apps.
• Work with AI coding assistants and autonomous agents to explore data and prototype models.
• Decompose problems, provide domain context, and specify tasks for agents and code.
• Solve complex R&D problems with client researchers and business leaders.
• Build data-driven models, AI-based decision tools, and web-based software with GUIs and cloud components.
• Integrate AI-enabled capabilities like literature/data extraction and tool calling.
• Balance AI suggestions with reliability given sparse, noisy materials data.
• Collaborate across release planning, architecture reviews, and client interfacing.
