Caterpillar's Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) is recruiting a Business Manager within our Finance team focused on strategy, project leadership, and analytics support. IPSD is a global division with engines and gensets that are sustainably manufactured, marketed, sold, and supported under multiple brands.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of material planning, procurement and production scheduling.
  • Ability to forecast, plan and manage replenishment for parts and materials.
  • Understanding of MRP concepts and capacity management.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Problem solving and decision making in manufacturing contexts.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in scheduling production and delivery processes in accordance with current productivity and cost efficiency standards.
  • Develops and executes material planning for a product line to ensure material requirements are met within the allocated time frame.
  • Organizes the flow of materials within the manufacturing unit and the transferring of materials to and from the inventory or warehouse.
  • Generates forecasts and manages replenishment planning for parts and materials to ensure specified service levels are met.
  • Assists in assessing risks, benefits and consideration of alternatives.
  • Demonstrates the ability to estimate the time and resources required to complete tasks.
  • Identifies key assignments, schedules, and process steps.
  • Applies the concept of 'critical path' to complete work in a timely manner and keep larger tasks on track.
  • Knowledge of MRP processes and systems; optimize planning and ensure capacity and materials availability.
  • Basic understanding of materials and capacity management processes.
  • Describe product life cycle and associated MRP cycle.
  • Describe parameters and considerations used in production run decisions.
  • Describe the use of bills of materials and other documentation needed to provide supplies.
  • Work with real-time inventory software, moving supplies to where needed.
  • Follows processes and applies technologies for items and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of problem solving approaches, tools, and techniques; apply to diverse situations.
  • Describe problem reporting and escalation practices.
  • Utilizes processes for problem analysis and resolution.
  • Identify key aspects of problem-solving techniques in own area.
  • Interprets bottlenecks and delays' impact on operating costs.
  • Assist in solving distribution issues to meet orders or replenishment requirements.
  • Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

  • Describes basic concepts of materials and capacity management processes and procedures.
  • Describes product life cycle and associated MRP cycle.
  • Identifies parameters and considerations used in making decisions about production runs.
  • Describes the use of bills of materials and other documentation needed to provide supplies.
  • Works with real-time inventory software, moving supplies to where needed, when needed.
  • Follows processes and applies technologies for items and inventory management.
Problem Solving
  • Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Level Basic Understanding:
  • Explains the value of a disciplined approach to problem solving.
  • Describes problem reporting and escalation practices.
  • Utilizes accepted procedures for problem analysis and resolution.
  • Identifies key aspects of problem-solving techniques used in own area.

Relationship Management

Degree or equivalent experience desired
