Job summary

Ingersoll Rand in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced procurement specialist to manage sourcing, SAP MM, and supplier relationships for mechanical components in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.

You will own MRP-driven purchase orders, coordinate international shipments, and drive on-time delivery, cost control, and quality improvements across UK and overseas suppliers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing buying role.
• Experience in ordering, expediting, planning, scheduling and inventory control.
• Proven experience in supplier management, cost control and negotiation.
• Experience sourcing from the Far East is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills.
• SAP MM knowledge.
• Ability to develop supplier relationships and improve OT D, cost and security of supply.

Responsibilities

• Sourcing goods and services UK and overseas.
• Update MM SAP data (source lists, info records, MRP settings).
• Manage suppliers, parts, orders, invoices, deliveries, shortages, quality issues.
• Monitor on-time delivery using SAP reports and OTD boards.
• Support Purchasing team workload and holiday planning.
• Raise daily MRP-driven purchase orders; lead daily MRP.
• Resolve quality issues with suppliers.
• Track lead times and communicate with customers.
• Produce daily/weekly/monthly reports (vendor OTD, PPV).
• Coordinate shipping and ensure compliance.
• Travel and site-based work; flexible hours.
• Develop vendor relationships to improve OTD, cost, supply security.

Job description

Responsible for the procurement of specific categories of material and vendors, products such as machined parts, gaskets and O rings, proprietary parts, electronic equipment, castings, forgings and raw materials. Controls parameters within the SAP ERP system, determines economic batch sizes within transport and inventory guidelines and places orders within authority. Maintains SAP material planning system; reviews and adjusts batch sizes in accordance with guidelines to control inventory and maintain overall on-time delivery and availability of parts in order to service the business and ship all suppliers' goods from overseas to the UK.,

• Sourcing of all goods and services within UK and from overseas suppliers both over the phone and face to face meetings as required.
• Responsible for updating all MM SAP purchasing data (source lists, info records, material master MRP settings, for your suppliers and any others as requested by the manager.
• Proactively managing all own suppliers, parts, orders, invoices, deliveries, shortages, quality issues, credits, performance, forecasts and shipping by Sea Air DHL any other related tasks as directed by the purchasing manager.
• Proactively managing on time delivery and shortages in production and aftersales using SAP system reports and visible management boards. ( O46 Report)
• Support of all Purchasing team members, helping with the Workload and Holidays.
• Raising and owning daily MRP driven purchase orders and managing end to end delivery via MRP and other means, take the lead in the team for daily MRP completion when required by the manager and other.

• Quality Issue resolution with suppliers and quality team.
• Lead Time tracking and improvements in communication to customer via tracker.
• Reporting- assisting with daily, weekly and monthly reports as required, e.g. vendor OTD, PPV, contract management.

• A minimum of 3 years' experience within a manufacturing buying role in the procurement of mechanical components.
• Experience in ordering expediting planning and scheduling and inventory control in a fast-moving production environment.
• Proven experience in the management of suppliers, cost control and negotiation. Experience in sourcing from the far-east an advantage but not essential.
• The ability to develop excellent working relationships with staff at all levels of the organisation and the development of vendors, improving OTD, cost and security of the supply chain.
• Excellent communications skills required.
• Identifying risk in the supply chain and using associated tools in order to de-risk and ensure supply of materials to the schedules and demands of customers.
