Job summary

Héroux-Devtek in Nottingham is seeking a Material Handler to join the MP&L team. You will help ensure safe, accurate and timely flow of materials from receipt to despatch, supporting production and customer requirements.

This role demands attention to detail, teamwork and a proactive approach, with responsibilities spanning goods in, inventory accuracy, cycle counts, and adherence to Health & Safety, quality and ERP processes.

Qualifications

  • Warehouse or logistics experience in goods in/dispatch, and material handling.
  • Strong stock control and inventory knowledge.
  • High accuracy with keen attention to detail.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic IT literacy including Microsoft Office.
  • Valid forklift licence or material handling certification.
  • Flexible and proactive with changing priorities.
  • Commitment to health, safety and quality standards.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure activities comply with policies, procedures, safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised workspace in line with 5S.
  • Safely load/unload delivery vehicles using appropriate equipment.
  • Receive goods, verify quantities and documentation against requirements.
  • Identify, label and store materials per procedures and traceability rules.
  • Pick, issue and deliver materials to production per plan and priorities.
  • Pack and despatch finished goods with correct paperwork.
  • Record inventory transactions in ERP/inventory systems accurately.
  • Maintain inventory records and support stock control across operation.
  • Carry out cycle counts and investigate shortages or discrepancies.
  • Support investigation of material flow issues and improvements.
  • Handle materials to prevent damage or loss; participate in CI activities.
  • Undertake other duties as required by the line manager.

Nottingham landing gear operations span a 48,000 sq. ft. facility dedicated to the manufacture of small to medium landing gear components. Recognised as the UK Technical Centre of Excellence, the site specialises in precision machining of aluminium, titanium, and hardened steels. Equipped with advanced technologies, the facility leverages the latest manufacturing innovations and software to drive ongoing business growth and ensure operational excellence.

Job Summary

The Material Handler is a key member of the MP&L team, responsible for supporting the safe, accurate and efficient flow of materials throughout the business, from goods receipt and storage through to production supply and final despatch. The role is responsible for ensuring materials are received, identified, stored, picked, issued and despatched accurately and in accordance with company procedures, quality requirements and the manufacturing plan. The successful candidate will demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach, strong attention to details and the ability to work collaboratively across MP&L and other operational functions to support business and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures, Health and Safety requirements and quality standards.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment in line with 5S principles.
  • Safely and efficiently load and unload delivery vehicles using appropriate material-handling equipment.
  • Receive incoming goods, verifying quantities, identification and documentation against the relevant requirements.
  • Ensure material are correctly identified, labelled and stored in designated location in accordance with company procedures and traceability requirements
  • Pick, issue and deliver materials to production in line with manufacturing plan and operational priorities.
  • Prepare, pack and despatch finished goods in accordance with customer, quality and packaging requirements, ensuring all associated documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Complete all required inventory and material transactions accurately and in a timely manner within the relevant ERP/inventory management systems.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and support effective stock control across the operation.
  • Carry out regular cycle counts and stock checks, investigating and reporting shortages, discrepancies or inventory inaccuracies.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of inventory and material flow issues.
  • Handle and store materials appropriately to prevent damage, deterioration or loss.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities across goods in, material handling, storage, production supply and despatch.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties within the scope of the role as required by the line manager.
Essential
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Previous experience within warehouse, stores, goods in/dispatch, logistics or material handling environments.
  • Good understanding of stock control and inventory management principles.
  • Strong attention to details with high level of accuracy.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid Forklift Truck licence and/or relevant material handling equipment certification.
  • Flexible and proactive approach to changing operational priorities.
  • Strong commitment to Health and Safety, quality and operational standards.
Desirable
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP or warehouse/inventory management systems.
  • Experience of cycle counting and inventory investigation.
  • Knowledge or experience of working within a 5S/continuous improvement environment.
  • Strong commitment to Health and Safety, quality and operational standards.
