Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Material Controller for a precision machining company in the UK. The role involves managing goods in, stores, and despatch areas, operating handling equipment, and coordinating deliveries. Ideal candidates will have 3-4 years of experience in material handling, along with basic PC literacy in Microsoft Office. This temporary to permanent position offers a pay rate of £14.00 per hour with immediate start available.

Qualifications

Job description
MATERIAL CONTROLLER ROLE IN A PRECISION MACHINING COMPANY

Siamo Recruitment are looking for a material controller to work within the planning and logistics department in our well-established precision machining company in Coventry. This is a temporary to permanent position starting immediately for the successful candidate.

Working hours are:

  • Monday to Thursday - 7:30am to 4:30pm (4 start time options: 6am or 6:30am or 7:00am)
  • Friday - 7:30am to 12:30pm (4 start time options: 6am or 6:30am or 7:00am)
Pay

Pay is £14.00 an hour

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the goods in, stores and despatch area within the factory is run efficiently in order to provide a good reliable service to support the manufacturing process
  • Operating mechanical handling equipment including counterbalance forklift truck and operating automatic Billet Saw to provide materials for machining
  • Communicate with internal and external customers and suppliers to arrange deliveries
  • Despatch, liaising with Planning Manager, for goods out, ensuring that all products are packed appropriately to prevent damage in transit and the image of the company is maintained and improved.
  • Provide material availability information to support new sales orders to the Planning Manager
  • Undertake the purchasing of non-production materials, including stationery, based on demand for all the different departments in the company and act as the interface with non- production materials suppliers
  • Maintain a good working relationship with colleagues to promote successful
Experience Required
  • 3-4years experience in material handling and coordination in a manufacturing company
  • Previous stores experience preferably including quality
  • Goods in experience including booking in goods
  • Some experience of purchasing direct and indirect materials
  • Able to use measuring equipment, verniers, micrometres
  • PC Literate (basic knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel and Word)
