Job description

Job Description

Your team: You will join a highly collaborative team dedicated to delivering data-driven personalisation across our core brands. Our purpose is to enable editorial, marketing, and product teams to provide audiences with exceptional, tailored experiences across digital products and communications. Embedded within a brand team, you will work cross-functionally to unlock capabilities in content recommendations, next-best-action models, and churn prevention. You will report directly to the Senior Manager - Martech & Personalisation within our central data technology team.

Your role: As a brand-aligned Martech Manager, you will act as the vital bridge between our central data engine and iconic media brands, including The Times, The Sun, talkSPORT, and Virgin Radio. Embedded directly within a brand team, you will collaborate cross-functionally to turn complex customer data and AI capabilities into seamless, highly personalised user experiences that foster audience loyalty, boost engagement, and support business growth.

Day to day you will:

  • Integrate into brand planning cycles to understand marketing workflows, editorial goals, and commercial objectives from the inside out.

  • Identify friction points across the customer journey where personalisation, next-best-action models, or recommendation engines can elevate the user experience.

  • Translate high-level business ideas into structured, high-impact product briefs and solution frameworks evaluated for strategic value, efficiency, and feasibility.

  • Partner with brand product managers and internal tech teams to establish clear delivery timelines and balance capability backlogs.

  • Enable customer-facing teams to easily activate central data tools, audience segmentation capabilities, and predictive models.

  • Advocate for brand priorities with central technology leaders to shape the future personalisation roadmap.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Digital & Media Background: Proven background working in digital consumer environments (such as media, subscriptions, or ad-supported platforms) with a solid understanding of how audience engagement drives growth.

  • Martech & CDP Ecosystems: Hands-on experience using marketing technology tools and customer data platforms (CDPs) to execute audience segmentation and multi-channel campaigns.

  • Personalisation & AI Knowledge: Clear understanding of how customer models work in practice, including recommendation engines, next-best-action logic, and churn modelling.

  • Project Roadmap & Dependency Management: Strong organisational ability to manage cross-team dependencies and keep initiatives moving smoothly across central tech and brand squads.

  • Data & Technical Literacy: Foundational understanding of complex data structures and SQL concepts to comfortably converse with technical teams and sense-check data flows.

  • Collaborative Communication: Clear, approachable communication style with the talent to translate technical ideas into straightforward concepts for non-technical partners.
