Job summary

West Suffolk Council is recruiting a Markets Officer to join our Growth department. This part-time role (20 hours per week, permanent) covers markets in Bury St Edmunds, Clare, Newmarket, Haverhill and Mildenhall, coordinating daily activities, traders and rent collection.

The successful candidate will work with the Economic Development team to promote markets, with Saturdays included. A Class B driving licence is required, and there are extensive employee benefits.

• Hands-on approach to daily market operations.
• Commitment to health & safety and willingness to training as required.
• Team player within the wider Economic Development team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day market activities.
• Organise market traders and collect rents.
• Manage records and reporting.
• Work with the Growth team to promote markets across locations.
• Include Saturdays in working days.
