MARKETING OPERATIONS MANAGER

LOCATION: Old Trafford Stadium Complex

At Manchester United, we believe that excellence on the pitch starts with excellence off the pitch. Our team thrives in a high-performance environment, united by a shared passion for success. We aim to elevate the standard of performance through collaboration and continuous growth, creating a space where everyone can contribute their best to our common goals.

We work together at our iconic Manchester United offices, enabling connection and innovation as we look ahead to what we can achieve as a global football club. We are excited to bring in passionate people who share our vision and drive for success.

The Purpose

The Marketing Operations Manager will support the Head of Marketing Operations in driving efficiency, structure, and transparency across Manchester United’s marketing department.

This role will manage the day-to-day coordination of marketing projects, tracking progress across all verticals — including brand & consumer marketing, production, live events, CRM, creative, sponsorship sales and influencer marketing. They will maintain the department’s project pipeline, support budget and supplier governance, and ensure every team is working in alignment with agreed processes and priorities.

The Marketing Operations Manager will be the operational link between planning and delivery — helping teams stay on track, ensuring clear communication between departments, and supporting the smooth running of marketing activities across the department.

They will also play a key role in identifying and supporting the adoption of new technologies—including AI-powered tools and automation platforms that can enhance marketing workflows, improve decision-making, and unlock new creative and operational capabilities.

The Role
Project Coordination & Delivery Support
  • Maintain the Marketing Project Pipeline Tracker, ensuring all briefs, projects and campaigns are logged, updated, and visible to stakeholders.
  • Support the day-to-day coordination of cross-functional projects, ensuring timelines, approvals and dependencies are managed effectively.
  • Prepare and circulate weekly project status updates, highlighting progress, risks and resourcing needs.
  • Support the Head of Marketing Operations in facilitating team stand‑ups, reviews and planning meetings.
Process & Governance
  • Help embed consistent ways of working across all marketing teams — ensuring briefs, approvals and reporting follow standardised templates and processes.
  • Monitor adherence to internal workflows, brand compliance and procurement procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of project scopes, budgets, and deliverables for audit and review.
  • Partner with marketing leads to ensure alignment between strategy, creative development, production and live event timelines.
Supplier & Budget Support
  • Support supplier onboarding and contracting in line with club procurement and finance policy.
  • Maintain supplier records and ensure all relevant documentation (NDAs, contracts, POs) is in place.
  • Work with budget owners to track project costs and flag risks or variances early.
  • Assist in preparing regular budget and supplier status reports for leadership.
Reporting & Insights
  • Produce regular reports and dashboards on departmental activity, delivery status, and capacity.
  • Support quarterly planning and review cycles by collecting and synthesising input from marketing verticals.
  • Analyse project timelines and workflow data to identify efficiency opportunities and recurring blockers.
Technology & Innovation Support
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies relevant to marketing operations, including AI, automation, data analytics, and creative tech.
  • Support the evaluation and implementation of new tools that improve project tracking, resource planning, and campaign delivery.
  • Partner with internal teams and external suppliers to pilot innovative solutions that streamline workflows or enhance creative output.
  • Help ensure new technologies are embedded into existing processes with clear documentation, training, and change management support.
Team Collaboration & Culture
  • Act as a central point of contact between teams to ensure communication is clear and priorities are understood.
  • Help build a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Provide administrative and coordination support to the Head of Marketing Operations and senior marketing leads.
Essential
The Person
  • Proven experience in marketing operations, project coordination or campaign management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and comfort managing budgets, timelines and workflows.
  • Confident working with project management tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills — able to work effectively across teams and functions.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and ability to anticipate needs or risks before they arise.
Desirable
  • Experience in sport, entertainment, or a FMCG brand.
  • Understanding of marketing production workflows and processes.
  • Familiarity with supplier onboarding and budget management procedures.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies in marketing, including AI tools, automation platforms, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience supporting the rollout or adoption of new systems or tools within a marketing or creative environment.
Success in the Role
  • The marketing pipeline and project tracker are consistently accurate, up to date and widely used.
  • Campaigns are delivered on time and within budget, with clear accountability at each stage.
  • Departmental processes are followed consistently, reducing duplication and inefficiency.
  • Marketing leadership has clear visibility of workload, priorities and risks.
  • Teams report smoother collaboration and more predictable delivery.
