Job Description - Marketing Manager
Reporting to : Chief Marketing Officer
The Marketing Manager is responsible for overseeing and delivering marketing, social media and press strategy for Sonia Friedman Productions and designated productions.
The Role :
We are looking for an exceptional individual with flawless marketing skills for the position of Marketing Manager, based at our extremely busy production office in Covent Garden. The ideal candidate will coordinate and deliver the strategy across all elements of marketing, social media and communications for SFP and designated SFP productions; oversee and manage external agencies and freelancers to ensure first-class delivery and collaboration towards shared creative and commercial goals. They will work closely with sales, ticketing and inventory teams to understand and actively contribute to the financial objectives of SFP and its productions. It is essential they foster exceptional relationships with stakeholders, producers, co‑producers, key creatives, industry figures and partners; partner with SFP's producing teams and theatre personnel to deliver excellence in audience experience. They must create a distinct brand and identity for each production by driving excellence, innovation and creativity across all public-facing campaigns; collaborate with the CMO to develop SFP's public-facing persona and enhance the company's reputation; and work alongside the Marketing Assistant to strengthen SFP's online and digital presence.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Coordinate and deliver marketing campaigns for designated productions
- Develop clear objectives for each production ensuring creative and commercial aims are fully understood and communicated to all members of the marketing team and supporting contributors.
- Liaise with external agencies, including marketing, social media and press teams, ensuring all are working in tandem to achieve the same goals of the campaigns.
- Collaborate with SFP's producing team and the production's creative team to ensure the positioning and messaging of the campaign reflects the values and overall tone of the production.
- Effective and efficient management of the marketing budget.
- Ensure press campaigns are within agreed budgets and time scales.
- Clearly communicate briefs to external agencies and freelancers and support them in translating into action, monitor progress, and ensure delivery of desired results.
- Together with the sales, ticketing and inventory teams, assess sales and ticketing targets and figures to inform the marketing and communications strategy for the production.
- Liaise with SFP's producing team to ensure all contractual terms and obligations are fulfilled and adhered to in marketing and publicity materials.
- Assist with the smooth running of press performances and opening nights as well as any other media / gala performances.
- Liaise with the production's press representative to deliver original and successful press campaigns, and crisis manage when necessary.
- Implement effective strategy for audience development and growth.
Alongside the Chief Marketing Officer, lead and deliver the marketing and communications strategy for Sonia Friedman Productions
- Build on, develop and explore new opportunities to further develop the reputation of SFP's brand and its standing in the industry.
- Working with the Marketing Assistant to contribute to SFP's online and digital strategy, including its social media, website and other online platforms.
- Oversee the relationship between SFP and its audiences, ensuring consistent and regular engagement, and develop strategies to seek new audiences and retain existing audiences
- Liaise with SFP's press representative and crisis manage when necessary.
General
- Influence and improve relationships with key clients, business partners, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Negotiate terms and contracts with external agencies on robust service level agreements and rates to achieve the best value for money in terms of cost and advice.
- Be present at performances, events, photoshoots, filming, photocalls and meetings as required (which will include some evening and weekend work).
- Complete such other duties as may be reasonably required.
- As this role will involve access to confidential and commercially sensitive information, it is essential that all such information is kept confidential.
- Work as part of a team, covering other team members during illness and holiday.
ESSENTIAL QUALITIES / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE :
- Proven experience in marketing or media.
- Thorough understanding of marketing campaigns, digital marketing environments, social media trends and press strategies.
- Strong numeracy and confidence interpreting sales reports and managing budgets.
- An understanding and experience working in the West End theatre market. Touring and international experience is also a benefit.
- First-rate copy‑writing and proofing skills.
- Confident professional communication manner.
- Discretion regarding sensitive information.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
- Ability to anticipate situations and plan for eventualities.
- Able to actively seek solutions to problems.
- Manage multiple high‑level relationships and stakeholders.
Employment Terms
- Hours : Usually 10am-6 : 30pm Monday-Thursday; 10am-6pm Friday. Due to the nature of this role some evening and weekend work will be required, and you may be asked to work additional hours from time to time. This role may also require travel and occasional overnight stays.
- Contract : Full time, one‑year fixed term.
