We’re a small, collaborative and creative marketing team supporting York Commercial Ltd - the University’s commercial arm. From promoting our gyms and cafés to merchandise, events, and nursery services, we deliver strategic marketing campaigns that generate income and enhance student and community experiences. You’ll join a fast-paced, supportive environment where your ideas help shape how thousands of students, staff, and visitors engage with our services.

Role

As Marketing Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in planning and delivering creative, high-impact campaigns across our diverse portfolio of commercial services. You’ll:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies and plans that support business objectives
  • Manage content across our websites and social media channels
  • Lead digital marketing activity, including SEO, Google Ads and email marketing
  • Write engaging copy and create on-brand visuals for campaigns and promotions
  • Support events, PR activity and internal communications
  • Monitor performance and use analytics to measure success and inform improvements
  • Working closely with section managers and the wider marketing team, you’ll help drive visibility, engagement, and income across YCL’s operations.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience or a qualification in marketing, communications or a related field (e.g. CIM, degree, or equivalent experience)
  • Can plan and deliver effective multi-channel campaigns
  • Has hands‑on experience with digital marketing tools, including WordPress, social media, SEO, Google Ads, and email platforms
  • Is a confident writer with excellent attention to detail and creative flair
  • Can analyse marketing performance data and use insights to inform decisions
  • Is organised, adaptable, and enjoys working collaboratively in a supportive team

This is a full-time, fixed‑term maternity cover role at Grade 5 (£32,080 to £36,636 per year). This role is hybrid, with a mix of remote working and time on campus at the University of York.
