A major financial institution in the United Kingdom is looking for an Assistant Vice President to optimize 3rd party spend requirements. The role involves collaborating with internal stakeholders, leading a team, and influencing decision-making to drive operational effectiveness. Ideal candidates will have strong stakeholder management and commercial knowledge, along with contract negotiation skills. This position is crucial for aligning sourcing activities with the bank's strategic objectives.
This role can be based out of Glasgow, Northampton or Knutsford.
To optimise and address Barclays 3rd party spend requirements, including the definition, development and implementation of approaches for relevant spend categories and requirements with close collaboration with the business and execution of strategic sourcing and buying channel development/optimisation.
Advice and influence decision‑making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Collaborate closely with other functions/business divisions. Lead a team on complex tasks, using professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the whole business function. Set objectives, coach employees, and appraise performance relative to objectives and reward outcomes.
Consult on complex issues; advise People Leaders to resolve escalated issues. Identify risk mitigation and develop new policies/procedures for control and governance. Own risk management and strengthen controls related to the work performed. Work closely with other areas, understanding coordination and contribution to organisational objectives. Collaborate with business‑aligned support areas to stay current on activity and strategy. Conduct complex data analysis from multiple internal and external sources to solve problems creatively and effectively. Communicate complex information, influence stakeholders, and achieve outcomes.
