Job Description

As Marketing Assistant (Fostering & Adoption), you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our marketing and recruitment strategies to raise awareness of fostering and adoption, attract new interest and build our presence both online and within local communities.

Working closely with the Marketing Manager and the Fostering and Adoption Teams (Children’s Services), you will help create engaging campaigns, produce high-quality promotional materials, and develop partnerships that reach potential foster carers and adopters both online and offline.

Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of fostering and adoption marketing strategies, ensuring alignment with Caritas Care’s values, branding and recruitment objectives.
  • Assist in planning and delivering an annual calendar of promotional events, community activities, and information sessions.
  • Contribute to raising awareness and the profile of fostering and adoption across the region by:
    • Creating media opportunities to highlight the ongoing need for foster carers and adoptive parents, including press releases, stories and case studies.
  • Create engaging digital content, including video, graphics, and written posts, to promote fostering and adoption messages.
  • Supporting the implementation of digital advertising, including monitoring performance and assisting with campaign optimisation.
  • Develop and produce on-brand marketing materials and advertising to support recruitment campaigns (both print and digital).
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation of marketing activities against agreed targets and timescales, providing regular updates and insights.
  • Support the development of local partnerships, helping to build relationships with community networks and business contacts to extend the reach of our campaigns
  • Attend recruitment meetings to ensure marketing efforts are responsive and effective.
  • Help research and develop a specialist knowledge of fostering and adoption marketing, monitoring national campaigns and trends to inform our recruitment plan.
  • Represent Caritas Care at external marketing meetings and contribute to joint regional campaigns with partner organisations.
  • To work within the parameters of the Charity’s policies and procedures.
Role Requirements
Essential criteria
  • GCSEs or equivalent, at least grade C in Maths and English Language
  • Awareness of marketing practices, through study, projects or work experience.
  • Creative flair for producing engaging content, including social media posts, video, and design work.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office software
  • Knowledge of digital and social media marketing, including content creation and audience engagement.
  • Working independently and within a team, following set procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work independently.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining brand consistency.
  • Confident in engaging with a wide range of audiences including colleagues, community groups, and external partners.
  • Passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and families.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and able to use initiative.

Desirable criteria
  • CIM Qualification or Degree in Marketing related subject (or working towards)
  • Experience producing marketing materials for both print and digital use.
  • Experience in marketing, communications
  • Awareness of fostering and adoption, or willingness to develop this understanding.
  • Experience of event planning and delivery.
  • Experience measuring and evaluating marketing campaign performance.
  • Competent in using Wordpress, Canva (or similar design software), and social media management tools/platforms.
  • Knowledge of digital advertising tools (e.g. Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads).
  • Experience working within the charity, fostering or adoption sectors.
  • Understanding of community-based marketing and partnership working.
  • Full Driving Licence
