Job description

We have a new opportunity for a Marketing and PR Director to lead our experienced Marketing and PR teams across Nosy Crow’s fast growing Children’s list.

Nosy Crow is a multi-award winning, independent children’s publishing company based in London with operations in both the UK and the USA. We make child focused, parent-friendly children’s books for ages 0-12. This role is ideal for someone eager to further their career in a fast-moving company publishing broad range of high-quality, commercial books.

The Marketing and PR Director is a new senior role and an excellent opportunity for a talented Marketing/PR professional with proven leadership skills who wants to make a difference.

This is a full-time position and is a hybrid role, working a minimum of three days per week in our office next to Tower Bridge.The successful candidate will have the right to live and work in the UK.

Purpose of the Job

This is a newly created role to head up our Nosy Crow’s PR, Marketing, and Digital Marketing teams. The role is both strategic and managerial. Bringing strong leadership, new promotional ideas and creative and innovative thinking, you will initiate and guide focussed and cohesive brand and title campaigns across all marketing and PR channels, working closely with the UK and Export Sales teams and the wider team within Nosy Crow.

You will report to the UK and Export Sales, Marketing and Audio Director.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Oversee delivery of marketing (including digital) and PR strategy and campaigns across the whole of Nosy Crow. Ensure all our marketing/PR activity is impactful and aligned with the long‑term strategy for the business.
  • Set and manage marketing budgets, regularly reviewing spend and re‑forecasting.
  • Represent the business where relevant with authors, agents, customers and other third parties, including spear‑heading effective pitches.
  • Champion creativity, innovation and results within every element of our publishing and marketing/PR activity.
  • Management responsibility for the Digital Marketing and Marketing Departments as well as the PR Department and our Marketing Design team (currently a total headcount of 12).
  • Attract, manage and develop talented marketing/PR team members with strong market awareness.
  • Evaluate and report to the business on marketing/PR activity and results.
  • Work with the Editorial team, the Audio team and the UK and Export Sales teams to deliver a shared growth strategy across the business.
  • Work with our US Marketing team to share best practice and maximise simultaneous promotional opportunities.
Key Skills, Characteristics and Capabilities

A positive, energetic self‑starter, the successful candidate will have proven senior level Marketing and PR experience within publishing (ideally children’s), as well as strong team leadership experience.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, with excellent business and commercial understanding, who is able to effectively lead an ROI‑focused team in a busy, fast‑paced environment.

They will have proven experience of leading high-level marketing and brand campaigns, and will bring creativity, consumer understanding and up‑to‑date knowledge of the market to their team.

The salary range for this role is £60,000 – £65,000 depending on experience.
