Job summary

Morrisons Market Street is seeking a skilled fishmonger to join the fresh fish counter. You will prepare, fillet, skin, gut, weigh and price fish to meet company and customer specs while delivering friendly service.

You will maintain vibrant displays, ensure clean, safe working areas, and advise customers on preparation and cooking, helping shoppers enjoy delicious seafood with confidence.

Qualifications

• Genuine fishmonger skills including cleaning, preparing, filleting, pin boning, scaling, skinning and gutting to customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, fillet, scale, skin, pin bone, gut, cut, weigh and price fish products to exact company and customer specifications.
• Maintain fresh fish displays, keep them well-stocked, clean and attractive throughout the trading day.
• Follow safe and legal guidelines, manage temperature controls, PPE and allergen procedures while keeping work areas tidy and hazard-free.

Our fresh fish counters are a huge part of what makes Market Street special. As Foodmakers and Shopkeepers, our Fishmongers prepare and sell fresh fish products, offer cooking advice, and make sure our local shoppers enjoy a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment.

Reporting into the Market Street Manager, you’ll bring a proactive approach to the fish counter. You'll scale, skin, fillet, and pin bone fish to company and customer specs, helping both in-store and online shoppers get delicious seafood ready for their meals.

In this role, you’ll be on hand to:

• Put customers first: Deliver friendly, helpful service that highlights our traditional skills, sharing specialist preparation and cooking advice to help build sales.
• Prepare quality catches: Fillet, scale, skin, pin bone, gut, cut, weigh, and price fish products to exact company and customer specifications.
• Maintain vibrant displays: Keep fresh fish displays well-stocked, fresh, and attractive throughout the trading day to ensure customer confidence in product availability.
• Keep operations safe and legal: Follow all safe and legal guidelines, managing temperature controls, COSHH chemicals, PPE, and allergen procedures while keeping work areas clean and hazard-free.

• Loves helping people: Friendly, approachable, and energised by customer interaction, using your product knowledge to answer queries and resolve customer needs quickly.
• Works well as part of the team: Shares ideas, supports colleagues across Market Street, and takes a practical approach to stock rotation, date checking, and minimising waste.
