Job summary

Pacific Basin Shipping Limited in London is seeking a Commercial Claims Manager to provide commercially focused legal and claims support to the Chartering and Operations teams throughout the fixture lifecycle. The role guides charterparty interpretation, contractual risk, sanctions compliance and dispute resolution.

You will manage claims exposure, support settlements, and help balance commercial objectives with legal risk in a fast-moving dry bulk shipping environment.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years in shipping claims handling or maritime disputes.
• Alternatively 10+ years in dry bulk chartering or operations with charter party disputes.
• Strong drafting and dispute resolution skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability to work independently within a team.

Responsibilities

• Give in-house guidance on issues pre- and post-fixture.
• Remain up to date on new regulations, case law and other relevant legal developments.
• Ensure compliance with sanctions regulations, including due diligence assessments to mitigate sanctions risks.
• Assist in making good commercial decisions while safeguarding company interests.
• Add value to commercial dispute resolution by assessing claim exposure and advising on handling strategies.
• Handle assigned claims in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient resolution.
